For years we have heard from you about your concerns and worries of flying with your pet in an airliner’s cabin. We also know that you find carriers marked "airline approved,” but the small print still leaves you guessing if you have the correct carrier for the airline you have selected.
We have partnered with American Airlines™ to bring you this exciting program that will provide you with all of the information you need to ensure an easy, hassle-free trip with your pet. American Airlines™ has also worked to improve their pet programs and was recently named "Pet Safe Airline of Choice" by Bark Buckle Up's 2009 Pet Safe Choice Awards.
The Guaranteed on Board™ program outlines all of the steps you will need to take before traveling with your pet on American Airlines™, so you can be sure that your pet and its carrier are compliant with American’s rules and regulations. Should you be denied boarding due to your carrier, Sherpa Pet Group will refund the cost of your American Airlines flight and your pet travel expenses - GUARANTEED!

ReservationsPets traveling in the cabin require a reservation to ensure no more than seven pets are booked on any single flight. For this reason, it is recommended that you make arrangements for your pet in advance by contacting Reservationsat 1-800-433-7600Types of Pets AllowedCats and dogs are the only types of pets accepted for travel on American Airlines. We maintain the right to refuse acceptance of any animal that is exhibiting aggressive behavior.guidelines for Pets Traveling In The CabinPets traveling in the cabin require a reservation to ensure no more than seven pets are booked on any single flight. For this reason, it is recommended that you make arrangements in advance by contacting Reservations.Number of Pets Allowed Only one pet carrier per ticketed passenger may be accepted for travel in the cabin. The carrier may contain two (2) dogs or two (2) cats but they must be the same species, at least 8-weeks old, and the pet and container can weigh no more than 20 lbs. combined. The maximum number of in cabin carriers allowed (on American Airlines flights accepting them) is seven per flight: two (2) in First Class and five (5) in Coach and/or Business Class. Service animals are not counted in the maximum number allowed in the cabin. On American Eagle and AmericanConnection®, two carriers (at most) are allowed depending on the aircraft - please contact Reservations before your flight. Movement of Pets During Flight Pets may not be removed from their carrier at any time while on-board the aircraft. Age/Health Information Dogs and cats must be at least eight (8) weeks old for travel. If two animals are traveling in the same carrier, they must be the same species (two cats or two dogs, not one of each) and the pets and container can weigh no more than 20 lbs. combined. The Sherpa Pet Group Guaranteed on Board™ program is designed to ensure that you and your pet travel comfortably and hassle free. If you follow the guidelines below and are denied boarding the aircraft with your pet, Sherpa Pet Group will refund the cost of your individual flight and your airline pet travel fee.
This program is subject to the following:
To submit a claim for the program you will need to have the Guaranteed on Board™ form filled out and signed by an Amercan Airline™ gate agent stating the reason the carrier was not allowed on the flight.
The form will need to be sent to the Sherpa Pet Group, LLC offices for verifaction and review. Claims will take up to 4 weeks for refund. For any additional questions call customer service at 973-625-5900
